Is breakfast included?

Yes, a buffet breakfast is included with every booking and is served each morning at the Reykjavik Bistro restaurant, located right next to the hotel. If you have an early flight or tour, a lighter breakfast option is available from 03:30 AM to 05:00 AM upon request.

Is there parking near Hotel Fron?

There is plenty of street parking and several parking garages nearby in downtown Reykjavik.

Parking zones and rates

Reykjavik’s city centre is divided into four colour-coded parking tariff zones. Rates vary by zone, with the most central areas being the priciest. Meters are enforced on weekdays, typically during business hours. Evenings and weekends are generally free on the street.

How to pay for parking

You can pay at on-street parking meters or use one of several mobile apps: EasyPark, Parka, Verna, or Síminn Pay. The apps are convenient because they let you extend your session remotely without walking back to the meter.

Parking garages

If you prefer covered parking, the Traðarkot parking garage is about a 3-minute walk from the hotel. Reykjavik operates several other public parking garages as well, open daily from 7 AM to midnight, including Stjörnuport, Vitatorg, Kolaport, and Vesturgata. Garage parking is charged by the hour and tends to be a reliable option when street spaces are full.

Resident and disabled permits

Visitors with a valid disabled parking permit can use designated accessible spaces and may be entitled to free parking. Ask at reception if you need help finding an accessible space.

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Check-in begins at 14:00 (2 PM) and check-out is by 11:00 (11 AM). If you arrive early, you can store your luggage at reception while your room is being prepared. Late check-out may be available on request.

Can I check in early?

Check-in begins at 14:00 (2 PM). Early check-in depends on availability, so tell us your expected arrival time and we’ll have your room ready as early as we can. If it isn’t ready yet, you can leave your luggage at reception in the meantime.

Is there a restaurant at Hotel Fron?

Yes, the Reykjavik Bistro is located right next to Hotel Fron and serves as the hotel’s restaurant. It offers Nordic-inspired dishes and is where the hotel’s buffet breakfast is served every morning. The restaurant is also open for lunch and dinner.

Where is Hotel Fron located?

Hotel Fron is at Laugavegur 22A, in the heart of downtown Reykjavik. Laugavegur is the city’s main shopping and dining street, so restaurants, cafés, bars, galleries, and shops are right at your doorstep. The iconic Hallgrímskirkja church is a short walk away.

How do I get from Keflavík Airport to the hotel?

Keflavík International Airport is roughly 50 km from downtown Reykjavik. The most common options are the Flybus airport shuttle, which drops you off at BSÍ bus terminal (about a 10-minute walk from the hotel), or a pre-booked private transfer directly to the hotel. Taxis and rental cars are also available at the airport. The drive takes around 45 minutes.

Is there an airport shuttle service?

Hotel Fron does not run its own airport shuttle, but the Flybus airport coach connects Keflavík Airport with the BSÍ terminal, a short walk from the hotel. We can also arrange a private airport transfer on request.

What types of rooms are available?

Hotel Fron has 100 rooms across four floors. All rooms are non-smoking and feature parquet flooring, Scandinavian-style decor, a private bathroom, flat-screen TV, minibar, in-room safe, and free Wi-Fi. Options include:

  • Standard Single Room: 1 twin bed
  • Standard Double or Twin Room: 2 twin beds or 1 full bed
  • Superior Double Room: 2 twin beds or 1 full bed
  • Studio Apartment: 2 twin beds or 1 full bed, with kitchen
  • Studio Deluxe Apartment: 2 twin beds or 1 full bed, plus 1 sofa bed, with kitchen
  • Family Room: 2 twin beds or 1 full bed, plus 1 sofa bed

Do you have apartments with a kitchen?

Yes. Hotel Fron’s studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom and penthouse apartments, along with the suites, each have a private kitchen with a stove, microwave, refrigerator and utensils, which makes them a good fit for families and longer stays. Standard single, double and family rooms do not have a kitchen, but every room includes a kettle with complimentary coffee and tea.

Is there free Wi-Fi?

Yes, free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel and in every room, with no time limit or extra charge.

Is the reception open 24 hours?

Yes, Hotel Fron has a 24-hour reception desk. Our staff can assist with check-in at any hour, luggage storage, and local recommendations. While reception cannot book tours directly, staff can answer general questions about them, and there is a Tourist Information office a few minutes’ walk from the hotel where tours can be arranged. A computer is also available on-site for guests to borrow.

Is the hotel wheelchair accessible?

Yes. Hotel Fron has an elevator serving all floors and offers wheelchair-accessible rooms. If you have specific accessibility requirements, contact us at info@hotelfron.is before your stay so we can make sure everything is ready for you.

Are pets allowed?

Hotel Fron is a pet-free hotel, so pets are not permitted, which keeps our rooms comfortable for guests with allergies. If you will be travelling with a recognised service animal, please contact us in advance.

What is there to do near Hotel Fron?

Being on Laugavegur puts you within easy reach of Reykjavik’s top attractions. Some highlights nearby:

Day tours to the Golden Circle, the Blue Lagoon, and the South Coast can be arranged from pickup points near the hotel.

Can I see the northern lights from the hotel?

The northern lights can sometimes be seen over Iceland between roughly September and April, but city lights make them hard to spot from downtown Reykjavik. For the best chance, head away from the city lights. Reception can recommend northern lights tours that leave from nearby pickup points on clear, dark nights.

Is there a pool, hot tub or spa?

Hotel Fron does not have an on-site pool, hot tub or spa. The closest is Sundhöllin, Reykjavik’s oldest public geothermal pool, a few minutes’ walk away, with indoor and outdoor pools and hot tubs. The Nauthólsvík geothermal beach is also nearby.

Can I store my luggage before check-in or after check-out?

Yes, we offer complimentary luggage storage at the reception desk. You can drop your bags off before check-in or pick them up after check-out.

Is Hotel Fron family-friendly? What about cribs?

Children of all ages are welcome. A free crib is available for infants aged 0–2 on request. Children aged 12 and older are charged at the adult rate. Please add the number and ages of children when booking so the correct pricing is shown.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellation policies depend on the rate you book. Most standard rates allow free cancellation up to 24 hours before arrival. Non-refundable rates are also available at a discount. Full details are shown at the time of booking.

Can I book for a large group?
